My all-time favorite month of the year is October, usually. In the last few years, Napa has experienced harrowing wildfires that ravaged our vineyards, wineries, homes, and communities. Last year we lost an entire vintage of red wines and the fires singed the outskirts of our winery. Each year, I hold my breath and hope for mother nature not to be too angry with the land and bless us with a full harvest, not to mention, peace of mind. Well, she did it. The Harvest began early due to the warm weather patterns and early ripening for the 2021 vintage and all the vines seem to be very happy. Yay, I can go about my business and thoroughly enjoy October’s crisp, clean air and the hint of fall’s cooler temperatures. Plus, the pumpkin grocery store items are in full swing. I love me some pumpkin anything. I opted not to travel or explore much this month as the harvest and visitors to the valley keep me extremely busy. Also, being in Napa Valley to watch the changing of the leaves and start pulling out sweaters and coats filled my heart with celebratory energy. I am keeping up a good pace with providing memorable tastings and delivering fun virtual tasting experiences at the winery. Come visit, it’s safe and absolutely beautiful. axrnapavalley.com
